Meet Brenden
I am 19 and come from a quaint little town in east London called Barking (anyone thinking of going take that with a pinch of salt).
I have recently completed my A-levels at All Saints Roman Catholic School & Technology College in Dagenham, where I studied Philosophy & Ethics, Psychology and Sociology. I’m here because of my new found love of religion and appreciation of life that I have acquired from travelling with some fellow young Catholics to Australia. With that in mind I wanted to offer something of myself to the church, and frankly to be more involved in youth ministry to deepen my understanding, and as a result (I pray) my growing faith.
Something that I want to achieve today, tomorrow, and every day that I am a member of this team is to love myself, love my neighbour (be it a fellow team member, a young person coming on retreat or a stranger in the street) and to love Jesus (although I am conscious that sounds a bit cheesy for which I am sorry).
A message I have (which really isn’t my message but I extend it to you) is that loving God and loving one another have much in common. ‘The love with which God loves us,’ preached St Augustine, ’is the same love with which we love one another’. Also a phrase that I created that “Christ died for our transgressions, not to be perfect but to be authentic”.
